All the world's a stage!

MouldEd's very own Soniya spent her birthday recently in the very beautiful romantic city of Paris and on her travels passed the infamous Moulin Rouge and The Crazy Horse Cabaret Club. And it got us thinking about all the types of theatre and performance around the world. Paris, for example is renowned for its cabaret and burlesque work in The Moulin Rouge and The Crazy Horse (where some of Beyonces more recent videos were inspired from!)

Travel to Italy, and you will see the thousands of masks, particularly during the Venice Carnival, where there are street shows, masquerade balls and shows happening throughout the city.

Want something a little more cultured? Fly to Sydney and catch some opera at The Sydney Opera House or go next door to New Zealands Opera House.

If you want to see where theatre began, how about flying to Greece, and visiting Athens? Take a trip to see some old amphitheatres and learn about the history of the arts!

Or if you prefer some sparkle and jazz hands, why not hop on a plane to The Big Apple, New York, and see what Broadway has to offer?

If none of this takes your fancy, however, you can always stay in the good old UK and take a trip to the Edinburgh Festival, supporting the fringe work that our country has produced. If you want to stay real close to home, hop on the tube and visit some of the West Ends finest shows in London, or even some of the more local theatres around England. After all, we do produce some jolly good work!

If you would like to see some of this great work and support a local company, please remember to follow us on twitter @MouldEdTheatre or via facebook!

Theatre on a stage, Theatre in the park, Theatre by the sea?

Having performed at our fare share of festivals recently as individuals at MouldEd Theatre, we have thought a lot about where we like to perform and where our new show, Geometric City, would work best.

Having recently performed at a school fair, in a field full of mud (otherwise known as Glastonbury Festival!) and in a community hall the question posed to me, where in the world would you love to perform?

Hoola hooping with The Majorettes, Soniya has been lucky enough to perform on the main stage at Camp Bestival, in a purpose built nightclub in India and on the beach in Italy. All such different experiences, but none of which suitable for our family theatre show! When visiting Cornwall back at the ripe old age of 18, she even got the chance to visit the beautiful Minack Theatre, which is definitely one of those venues we would love to perform in-Right on the beautiful sea front. Maybe not quite right for this show however...

Don't forget the more local venues-We love The Pleasance Theatre with all of it's studio spaces, and Shoreditch Town Hall with the incredible ballroom space, as well as the various underground spaces lucking inside this beautiful building. MouldEd also love taking summer trips to the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park-particularly if the sun is shining! Having seen such diverse work there, from Lord of the Flies to The Sound of Music, it's definitely one of those theatres to check out during those gorgeous summer months.

For now, however, Geometric City will be staying in schools and theatres...We don't think it's quite ready for the outdoors just yet, or big arena stages! We are looking to tour this show next year, in the less abstract venues around-So do keep up to date with all our news by following us on Facebook, or finding us on Twitter @mouldedtheatre or let us know if your school or theatre would like to book us, via our contact page!
