Frog-tastic fun at Clapham Library!

17/10/2017

We were delighted to be able to perform Ribbet Ribbet Croak at Clapham Library on Saturday 7th October, as part of their Fun Palaces day.

For this phase of Ribbet Ribbet Croak, the audience development, we are partnering with the charity Froglife. As part of our tour we are working with three Lambeth libraries, a hospital nursery, Little Miracles (a charity for complex needs families) and Southampton City Art Gallery to deliver both Ribbet Ribbet Croak  and an interactive Wildlife workshop, facilitated by froggy experts at Froglife.

The first of these sessions we delivered at Clapham library - here are the results of our frog-tasically fun day!

Ribbet Ribbet Redeveloped...ahem...CROAK!

The redevelopment process of Ribbet Ribbet Croak is now nearly completed. We have had so much fun during this time and are now very excited about the next stage of the project, which will see us touring to venues, schools and libraries both in London and around the UK - we will be posting venue details and all upcoming dates in the next few weeks.

During the redevelopment we worked with The Makaton Charity to fully integrate The Makaton Language Programme into Ribbet Ribbet Croak. We feel very fortunate to have worked with two amazing performance tutors, Jenny & Zanna, both of whom were phenomenal teachers and mentors to us, teaching us over 140 signs and symbols!

You can find out more about The Makaton Charity and their work here.

The Makaton Language Programme is used in many special educational needs schools and centres, as well as by some children's tv stars, such as Mr Tumble. Our aim has been to make Ribbet Ribbet Croak as accessible as possible, and by incorporating Makaton throughout the show, we have been able to reach out to audiences with complex needs.

Picture

We have also worked closely with Discover Children's Story Centre throughout the redevelopment and we spent a very happy Good Friday performing twice to two frog-tastic audiences!

The previous weekend we had a great day at Cranleigh Arts Centre, where we were happily reunited with our friends from The Makaton Charity

The feedback we have received to date has been both brilliant and really helpful. We are so grateful to everyone who has seen Ribbet Ribbet Croak throughout the redevelopment - to the staff and students at The Brook Primary School, everyone at Brixton Library and all our other brilliant froggy audience members!

Last but not least, massive thanks to Arts Council England, who by granting us funding have enabled us to reach out to a wider audience and produce an accessible piece of high quality theatre.

Great news!

Things may have seemed a bit quiet here at Moulded HQ, but we have been working really hard on our Grants for the Arts funding application. We are excited and proud to officially announce that the redevelopment of Ribbet Ribbet Croak is being supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

What does this mean?

After the amazing feedback we received from our audiences in Edinburgh, we wanted to redevelop Ribbet Ribbet Croal to make it even better! We are working with The Makaton Charity to fully integrate Makaton signs and symbols into the production, as well as making the layout, props and set even more accessible for complex needs audiences.

What is Makaton?

Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people communicate. If you want to find out more about Makaton, have a look at their website. https://www.makaton.org/ You may have seen some Makaton signs on Mr Tumble shown on the BBC, or perhaps a local school uses symbols to help the pupils find their way around.

How is our show accessible?

With the use of Makaton, we hope to engage young children, families and complex needs audiences. Our show is sensory, interactive and very relaxed. We want to make theatre that everyone can enjoy, talk about and get involved with.

So where can you see us next?

Details will be coming up soon, but look out for us at Brixton Library, Discover Story Centre and Cranleigh Arts Centre throughout March and April.

For more info on Discover check out their website: http://www.discover.org.uk/
For more info on Cranleigh have a look here: http://www.cranleighartscentre.org/

Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 – Reporting back!

18/11/2016

We have been a bit quiet on the blog front recently and that is because we have been recovering from our 19 shows at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016! Many of which were sold out – A massive thanks to you lovely lot for supporting us. We were overwhelmed by the amount of positive comments, great feedback, and even 4* reviews! You can read more about these here:
http://www.mouldedtheatre.com/edinburgh-2016.html

We were so pleased to have every show in Edinburgh as a relaxed performance, which meant we had all ages and abilities helping Grandma and Grandpa Frog on their search to find the perfect present for their Grandfrogs. Thank you to everyone who came along, tweeted us and tagged us on Instagram-We loved seeing all of your photos and comments and we hope to be taking Ribbet Ribbet Croak on the road again very soon. Do let us know if you want us to come to your school or community centre to perform the show, and we run workshops too!
If you want to find us on social media, you can contact us in the following ways:

Or go to our contact page on our website.

We also did a lot of tourist style exploring as we went to the top of Arthurs Seat, tried a fried mars bar for the first time (we wouldn’t recommend it!) and also celebrated Emily’s birthday!

We also saw some great shows too. We love supporting new and dynamic work, as well as seeing comedians, magicians, circus acts and theatre shows. On average we saw 2-3 shows a day! Here are some of our top picks to look out for in the future (in no particular order) :
  • Pete Firman - Trix
With tricks that will make you shout ‘HOW DID HE JUST DO THAT?!’ really loudly, this man is not just a very talented magician, but also very funny. His stand up alone is better than most, and his tricks are second to none.
  • Showstoppers - The Improvised Musical
Incredibly talented, we saw both the adults’ and kids’ version of this show. Soniya even saw the adult show twice, it was that good! With a different set of themes/ideas every night, and improvised from scratch, this company is definitely one to look out for. The children’s improvised musical is also just as funny, with the show being set in a sweet shop, a fish bowl and many many other hilarious and inventive places.
  • Shlomo - #NewRules
Soniya did a beatboxing workshop a few years ago with Sholmo and ever since then has been hooked on his incredible talent for creating songs with just his voice. We had a Moulded night out to his show at The Underbelly and it had us nodding our heads to the beat and staring in awe (while also attempting to beatbox on the way home…badly!)
  • Colin Hoult/Anna Mann – A Sketch Show For Depressives
A spontaneous theatre trip turned out to be one of the many highlights of our Edinburgh experience this year. Hard to describe in just a few sentences, this show was funny, random and surprisingly good.
  • Sleeping Trees – Sci Fi
Theatre friends of ours, Sleeping Trees always produce hilarious work, and this was no exception. If you ever get the chance to check them out, and fancy a laugh then go and support this brilliant company.
  • Head First Acrobats - Elixir
Talented, funny, and not too bad on the eye these incredible acrobats had us laughing, gasping and whooping at their piece about a zombie attack. Another spontaneous trip (to celebrate our director’s birthday!) we were pleased with our random pick and would definitely recommend them.
  • Water on Mars - Juggling
Words to describe this show: Amazing, incredible, jaw dropping, mind blowing, overwhelmingly brilliant… etc etc etc. If you want to see a great juggling show, go and support these guys.
  • Dansema Dance Theatre - Puzzle
One for the tots and tinies, this show was utterly gorgeous. From Lithuania, this company have produced a clever, endearing, very cute show which we would highly recommend for anyone who loves work for very young audiences, or has little ones themselves!
  • Bootworks – The Many Doors of Frank Feelbad
Our theatre friends Bootworks have made another great show, this one tackling the slightly darker subject of loss. Heart-warming and eye-watering, this show is absolutely fantastic for ages 4+ and their families and is deeply sensitive in its portrayal of Franks loss.
  • Sirqus Alfon – I Am Somebody
You may not have heard of this company before, as we didn’t before we went to Edinburgh, but this show, full of lasers, animation, music and lots more, is definitely one to watch out for. Very random but very good!
